WALL OF WOMEN WHO INSPIRE US (LPU-B)
-
The women who inspire me most are my mother and sister. By being the youngest in our family, I've seen how they didn't give up when faced with challenges and struggles. They showed me that taking leadership and initiative are not shaped by gender, and women can sacrifice everything as well, just to give their family a better life. Thus, they motivate me to pursue a career in the maritime industry because seeing them inspires me to accept challenges, find courage, become resilient, and make a positive change.
The number one woman who inspired me the most, my mother, who supported my dreams and trusted my path in maritime.

The woman who inspired me is a character from the book Taste of Sky - Behati Azalea Monzanto. She inspires me with her courage, strength, and determination, facing every challenge head-on without losing her values. As someone aspiring to work in the maritime industry, her resilience and bravery remind me that a woman’s place is wherever she dares to stand - even at the helm of a ship - leading with confidence, skill, and integrity.
What inspires me to continue in the maritime industry is my mother and my senior cadettes. I became strong because of the lessons taught by my mother. In addition, my senior cadettes motivate me to continue by sharing their experiences, which inspire me to keep going every day. I am very thankful that they give me the strength to move forward.
When asked about this question, only one person comes to my and it is my mother. She is the person who inspires me the most. I have seen her juggle struggles, responsibilities, setting aside dreams, and fight inner battles, but despite those, she was still able to stand strong and be a good mother to me and my siblings. She is my source of strength, and I am forever grateful on having her as my mother.
Some people choose their mothers as the woman who inspires them the most, but for me, it is my grandmother. Even though she works abroad and I have only seen her four times in my 20 years of life, her love and sacrifices are something I feel every single day.
She left home to work far away just so our family could have better opportunities, especially when it comes to our education. As her first eldest granddaughter, I proudly give her my snappiest salute for all the hard work she has done for us. Whenever I face problems or challenges, she is the one I run to. She never fails to listen, guide me, and support me.
She has also been there for me in my academic journey, helping me when I need financial support for competitions and extracurricular activities. Her sacrifices motivate me to do my best and make her proud.
My grandmother may be far away, but her strength, love, and dedication inspire me every day. She will always be my hero and one of the greatest women I look up to. 🩷

Growing up, there were a lot of women who inspired me to become a better version of myself. But the most remarkable of them all and made the most impact is my Lola. She is full of wisdom and I grew up listening to all her stories and experiences. She taught me how to dream and she made me believe how they're possible as long as you pray and work hard for it. She showed me how faith can truly move mountains and thank God, I believed her because that was the exact reason why I'm here today.
My mother has always been the greatest inspiration in my life and the person who first taught me the true meaning of women empowerment. Through her everyday actions, she shows strength, resilience, and dedication in ways that often go unnoticed but are deeply meaningful. She skillfully takes care of me and my brother, manages the needs of our whole family, and always makes sure that we are healthy, supported, and well. Her ability to balance responsibility, love, and hard work proves that women possess incredible power and capability in shaping their families and communities. Because of her, I learned that women empowerment is not only about leadership in public spaces, but also about recognizing the strength, sacrifices, and influence that women show every day in their homes and in the lives of the people they care for.
The women who inspired me are my sisters, especially my big sister. When we were growing up, I saw how strong and independent she was. She motivates me to become more and to achieve more. She pushes me to do more than just my limitations. She became my hero, the one who I looked up to. How strong and independent she is made me realize that a woman is not for the house only. She can achieve anything on her own without the help of any men in her life. On the other hand, my younger sister taught me to become vulnerable. That it's okay to feel weak sometimes, but don't give up just because you thought you couldn't do it. She made me realize that I can be strong but weak at the same time. My sisters made me who I am today and who I will become.
When i sailed on my first vessel as an engine cadet, i am privilege to sailed under the command of a female captain, Captain Priyanka. Seeing a strong and capable women leading a vessel with confidence and professionalism truly inspired me. She showed me that the maritime industry is not defined by gender, but by skill, dedication, and resilience. Her leadership reminded me that women belong on the bridge, in the engine room, and in every space within this industry. I am proud to witness and support the growing presence of empowered women in maritime.
