Do not let others define you by your salary. You are more than what you think you are.

It changed my perspective on my seafaring career. It made me realize and appreciate even more how important we, seafarers, are to the world. It’s a career that truly helps make the world a better place.

Takeaways I got during the seminar is, "it's not about where the wind came from or how strong it hits, but it is about how you adjust your sail". It is not about the problem but it is how you respond to it. Being resilient is being able to respond to challenges and problems thrown at you in a proper and mature manner. Also, do not let anyone define you but make yourself known to anybody regardless of judgement, shine and make a difference, make a legacy. It is not about the path, but focus on getting into the finish line.

The most striking lesson for me is that our attitude is molded by our perception and appreciation. If we change the way we perceive things and learn to appreciate them more, that's how our attitude develops.
In my case, I chose this career with the sole motivation that it offers a very high salary. As I entered maritime school, I learned to love the various aspects of the maritime industry. The more I got to appreciate this profession when I had a first-hand experience of as a cadet.
Indeed, as my perception of this career changed, I have become more empowered and have learned to give more value and respect to myself being one of the few women in this profession.

You are much more than you think. Don't let your job title, pay, or even your gender define who you are. Your mindset, honesty, and desire to grow all play a role in who you are. Change how you see things to focus on something that makes you stronger and more resilient. Take on challenges as lessons, be professional at every step, and choose to rise above your doubts. You become the best version of yourself when you learn to be strong and professional.
